WRITTEN BY

Charlotte is the writer behind the Women's Digital Cricket Magazine Is That Middle? We're delighted to have her on board to share her writing with you.

Women and girls, this one’s for you. Lauren and Courtney Winfield-Hill have recently released their brand WH Cricket aimed at getting young girls into cricket by providing them with the opportunities and support that was not once there. Even if you aren’t particularly interested in cricket, this is still for you, a lot of the opportunities provided will help to support you and provide you with the knowledge and understanding for most sports. 2025 is the year the brand is going to go boom. With so many exciting deals and ideas in the pipeline, you can’t blame us for getting a little over excited.

Crickets New Champions: Why the Girls Deserve the Spotlight

In the last few years, the number of women and girls participating in cricket has skyrocketed as the sport begins to become more inclusive. Women’s cricket is getting much more airtime on television making it impossible to miss. As well as this, airtime of women’s sport in television in general has increased vastly. This has meant that people have become more exposed to women playing sports and are therefore becoming more accepting. Girls are now actively being encouraged to play which is fantastic. It wasn’t that long ago where women and girls were discouraged and told to focus on more “appropriate” or “feminine” tasks. Lauren and Courtney are tearing this barrier down piece by piece, and the movement is growing stronger. WH Cricket is striving to ensure that women in cricket doesn’t just stay as a movement but eventually becomes the new normal.

Women on the Pitch: Why Representation Matters

Everyone always says that it’s so important for young girls to get into sport, but why is that? Well think of some of the modern-day female role models, Serena Williams, Mary Earps, Jessica Ennis etc, all of these inspirational women are such heroes to today’s generation. Imagine becoming a hero of future generations. By representing young girls in sport, you will be demonstrating to future generations that sport and ability is not defined by gender.

Teaming Up For Change

WH Cricket have teamed up with HerGameToo (a non-profit organisation who help support women in sport providing them with the opportunities and campaigning to ensure women continue to get the support in sport that they deserve), to deliver exciting new activities for young women and girls. By working with HerGameToo, WH Cricket will be actively joining the battle to ensure women are not discriminated against in sport. One way in which the collaboration will be taking place is in our WH Cricket Courses, HerGameToo will be featuring cool and interesting pdf resources and the opportunity to provide feedback and inclusive courses in themselves.
